UPDATE: See a gallery of photos from last night's display here: 15 stunning pictures of Falmouth Week Fireworks over the harbour
******
ORGANISERS of Falmouth Week have announced that tonight’s firework display will still go ahead but in a slightly different and lower location in Falmouth.
Due to recent wet weather, the land on which the fireworks are usually set off is unusable. However, the fireworks will continue to be set off at 10pm this evening (Friday), but at a lower location on Trefusis Headland.
Organisers say the display will still be viewable within Falmouth Harbour.
A post on Falmouth Week’s Facebook page today (August 11) explains why the location of the fireworks has been moved.
It reads: “These (fireworks) are all set to go ahead at 10pm.
“They will be in a slightly different, lower location but still on Trefusis Headland and still viewable within Falmouth Harbour.
“The reason for the move is simply the weather – the usual location we utilise with kind permissions from the landowner is not usable due to the recent wet weather.”
As previously reported in the Packet, the firework display would have been moved to tomorrow (Saturday) in case of bad weather. However, although overcast it remains dry today and organisers have decided to continue with tonight's display.
Tickets have sold out for this evening’s performances from tribute acts The Bohemians and Fleetwood Back at the Waterfront car park.
Tomorrow (Saturday 12) welcomes Comic and Movie Fest at the Princess Pavilion and a night of music from the 80s and 00s at the Waterfront, Church Street car Park.
