FALMOUTH Tall Ship organisers are urging members of the public who want to visit the tall ships this week, to book tickets and not arrive early following high demands and long queues to see the vessels today.

Today (Tuesday, August 15) marked the first day of the Falmouth Tall Ships event which sees vessels from around the world dock in Falmouth Harbour before taking part in a parade of sail on Friday.

Thousands of people are expected to arrive in Falmouth over the four-day event to see the tall ships, attractions and events taking place across the town.

However, due to a “phenomenal interest” during its opening day, organisers of Falmouth Tall Ships are urging members of the public to purchase pre-tickets for Wednesday and Thursday.

Richard Wilcox, one of the organisers of Falmouth Tall Ships said: “There has been a phenomenal interest in visiting the Falmouth Tall Ships in the docks already, and as a result, we are currently experiencing very long queues.

“Today (Tuesday) is now sold out for the ship's visits on the docks.

“Pre-ticket purchase for Wednesday and Thursday is a necessity and people must attend in their allocated and purchased time slots.

“We are recommending that visitors do not arrive early to the docks. It’s great that there’s so much interest but we’re asking that everyone please pre-purchase their tickets and only come at the allocated times on those tickets.

“There are lots of free activities all around town, so please come and enjoy the best of Falmouth and admire the ships from all points of the port.

“Thank you.”
