WITH Autumn just around the corner, the National Trust has announced dates of its Apple Weekender events taking place in Cornwall over the next two months.
The apple festivities will take place on dates in September and October at three Cornish National Trust sites.
Here is when and where the Apple Weekender events will be held in Cornwall:
Cotehele’s Apple Weekender, near Saltash
Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 2023
Visitors will be able to take part in an array of apple festivities in Cotehele’s Orchard of rare and special trees including an orchard tour, cider pressing in action, apple tasting and the opportunity to pick apples straight from the tree to take home.
The event will start at 10am and finish at 5pm on both days.
Apple picking at Cotehele will run up until September 24.
Trelissick Apple Weekender, near Truro
Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1 2023
Visitors will be able to find a small press and an apple display in the stables at Trelissick. The garden team will be on hand to identify heritage apples.
There will also be plenty of traditional games for the family to play.
In the orchard, there will be pruning demonstrations with the garden team at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
On September 30 (Saturday) Aggie Folk Band will perform and on October 1 (Sunday) One Foot in the Gravy (band) will perform between 12pm and 3pm.
There will also be two archery sessions with Anchor Archery. The first session takes place between 10.30am and 12.30pm, the second session begins at 1.30pm and ends at 3.30pm.
Pentire Apple Weekender, near Wadebridge
Saturday, October 21 2023
A day full of activities will take place at Pentire’s restored orchard. There will also be music and apple harvest-inspired activities.
The event will open to visitors at 12pm and close at 4pm.
