A retired Royal Navy officer died from breathing in deadly asbestos dust while serving at sea and on land during his long career.
Ian Munday, who was also vice chairman, and later chairman, of ShelterBox in Helston between January 2001 and December 2013, worked on ships where pipes were lagged with asbestos.
He also flew in helicopters, worked in hangars and in dockyards during his Royal Navy service between 1972 and 2005, an inquest was told.
The inquest in Truro heard Ian, 72, died on Christmas Eve 2022 at his home in Falmouth - nine months after being diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma.
Assistant coroner Emma Hillson recorded a conclusion of death from an industrial disease.
She said he was exposed to asbestos during his Naval career.
Ian became vice chairman of worldwide disaster relief charity ShelterBox in 2001, after it was founded in Helston a year earlier.
He remained in the role for more than decade, later becoming chair before stepping down in 2013.
He was also vice commodore of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club in Falmouth, and AZAB race director in 2019.
