A POPULAR live music venue in Cornwall that has evolved from a tapas bar to a coffee shop before eventually becoming a music venue is being put up for sale.
The owners of Whiskers bar and live music venue in Newquay have announced that they have made the 'difficult' choice to put the establishment on the market for sale.
In a statement posted online, owners JG and Nicole explained how, due to the fact they now have two young children, a late-night business is not quite the right fit for them.
In the statement, which was published on its social media page, the owners said: "After 10 amazing years we have made the decision to... put our beloved Whiskers on the market for sale.
"Whiskers has been a huge and wonderful part of our lives. We have met so many incredible people through the business and have had so many brilliant people work for us.
"The business evolved so many times throughout the years, from the organic wine and tapas bar that it was in the beginning, to the pizzeria and coffee house and on to the fabulous bar and live music venue it is today. We are so proud of what we created (including ticking off one of our life time aims - to have a listing in The Lonely Planet Guide to England!)"
"We are hoping to find a buyer with a passion for music and the sense of community that we are known for. Please help us show them that Whiskers has a bright and bumpin' future by visiting the bar and continuing to support us out of season.
"Our decision comes due to the fact we now have 2 small children. A late night business is not quite the right fit for our family. But watch this space as we decide what to do next!
"We want to thank all our fans and followers plus our long list of lovable staff from throughout the years, without you none of it would have been possible.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you
