A ‘unique’ former school building on the outskirts of Helston is up for sale for more than half a million pounds.
The old Wendron School building was once the school for hundreds of pupils after it was constructed in the 1830s, as one of the first public schools to be opened in the UK.
However, the building was converted into a house when a new school site, located just across the road, where it remains today, was opened 20 years ago this year.
In June parents, pupils, ex-pupils, former members of staff and governors joined to celebrate two decades since the new Wendron School officially opened.
Now the Grade II four-bedroomed house is on the market for £625,000 with no onward chain.
According to rightmove.co.uk, the property offers four bedrooms, light and airy accommodation throughout, a spa-style bathroom on the ground floor and shower room on the first floor, as well as "beautiful character features and enclosed gardens with plentiful parking".
The building boasts a large dual-aspect lounge with arched stone mullioned windows complete with shutters, while in the centre of the room is a log burner.
Integrated appliances are fitted in the kitchen, along with a range oven and space for a table.

The house, which is described as “unique”, and “captivating” blends the rich history of a converted schoolhouse with modern comfort and style, currently arranged to offer three reception rooms.
The outside features two separate garden areas - one area for alfresco dining, while the other offers an enclosed level lawn.
The owner of the property, Helston town councillor Gareth Looker, told the Packet he is sad to be leaving but the property was too big for just himself, his wife and their small dog.
Gareth said: "It's a big building, but there are only two of us. It's sad but we must leave."
He pointed out that the wooden floorboards were a nod to the original school features.
The property is being marketed by the Mather Partnership.
