After last week's "mess-up" with the Covid booster clinic in Falmouth, this week's session has now been cancelled "due to unforeseen circumstances".

NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly said they had to take the diffcult decision to cancel the clinic at the Draceana Centre this Friday, October 13. However they said the clinic scheduled for the Friday after that would take place.

In a statement issued to the Packet the NHS said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to cancel the clinic at the Draceana Centre this Friday 13 October. We will run the clinic planned for Friday 20 October as normal.

"We will also be adding additional capacity in the Falmouth area to meet demand and will share this with you as soon as we have it finalised. The winter vaccination programme will be running until 15 December allowing all eligible people living in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly."

NHS apologises after 'massive mess-up' at Covid booster jab clinic in Falmouth

The cancellation comes the day after the NHS in Cornwall apologised for running out of vaccines at last Friday's clinic, telling people, some of whom had been waiting for hours, to come back the following Friday.

One Falmouth man told the Packet that it was an “almighty mess up” and it was not fair on “us old ones” as many people were in their 70s.

The NHS apologised and blamed the situation on an “unprecedented turnout and high demand in the area”
