The chair of a Falmouth-based radio station has said she is ‘proud’ after securing three awards – including two golds at a recent awards ceremony in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Source FM has announced its achievement at this year’s Community Radio Awards after winning two gold awards and a bronze.
Community radio stations from all corners of the UK submitted entries to showcase their contributions in various categories, reflecting material broadcast between June 2022 and 2023 with Source FM earning accolades in three categories.
One of the gold awards was Community Show of the Year for ‘A Space to Speak Your Mind’ the station's collaboration with the charity Cornwall Mind. Judges commented: “This entry connects with a very specific audience providing a platform and exploring these issues in a relatable way.”
The gold award was accepted on behalf of Source FM by presenter Richard Perks from Cornwall Mind. In addition to this gold award, ‘A Space to Speak Your Mind’ also claimed the bronze award for Specialist Content Show of the Year.
The second gold secured by Source FM was in the category of Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year. This award recognised the station’s coverage of ‘Carols for Christmas’ last December, featuring the participation of seven school choirs from the surrounding area.
Source FM's chair, Jade Dunbar said: “We are incredibly honoured to receive these awards from the Community Radio Awards. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams, our volunteers, and the community partners we work with.
“I am so proud of what Source FM is achieving.
“We are committed to serving our local community and to providing content that is meaningful and relevant. These awards inspired us to continue our mission with even more passion and enthusiasm.”
