A ROAD which was closed due to excess ground water making it unsafe has now been reopened.
Cornwall Council has announced that emergency roadworks on the A39 at Stickenbridge, between Perranarworthal and Treluswell roundabout have now been completed and the road should be re-opening at around 5:30pm on Friday.
The local authority announced on Tuesday this week that two-way traffic lights had been put in place whilst its highway teams worked to identify a solution to the issue.
At the time, Cornwall Council said: "The two-way traffic lights on the A39 at Stickenbridge, between Perranarworthal and Treluswell roundabout will have to remain in place for at least the next few days due to excess ground water making the road surface unsafe.
"Our highways team has visited the site to identify an urgent solution. In the meantime, we have workers there to manage traffic. Please avoid the area if possible as there are significant delays in both directions."
In the latest update posted on its social media page this afternoon, Cornwall Council said: "Emergency roadworks on the A39 at Stickenbridge, between Perranarworthal and Treluswell roundabout, have been completed and the road is due to reopen fully by 5.30pm at the latest this afternoon (Friday 17 November).
"Thank you for your patience."
