A GOLF club and restaurant in Falmouth has been sold to a local husband and wife team today.
Falmouth Golf Club, which sits overlooking Falmouth Bay just above the Southwest coastal path, has today been sold on December 4 by the current owner David Hughes, to husband and wife team Ian Lancaster and Alison Turner, who are also Falmouth residents.
Mr Hughes has owned it for the last 20 years and has overseen the complete rebuilding of the clubhouse and restaurant building during that time, developing it into the smart, modern facility it is today.
Alison and Ian have assumed ownership with immediate effect and said: “We are so excited to take over the running of the Golf Club and Above the Bay restaurant – it is such a beautiful spot on the Cornish coast and the 18-hole golf course has unrivaled views across the bay.
"If you’re a golfer, you’re going to want to play here! David Hughes has made some major improvements to the club and restaurant, including adding a wedding venue, and we look forward to taking it to the next level, making it into a true destination facility that will continue to be a major asset for the Falmouth community and tourists alike."
Falmouth Golf Club was originally established in 1894 and this par 70 golf course winds its way along the Cornish cliff tops, offering facilities for all levels of golfer from beginner onwards.
The Above The Bay restaurant is open seven days a week offering breakfasts, lunches, and evening meals, as well as a bar menu.
There are also frequent special events such as quizzes and themed menu evenings.
The golf club also serves as an events venue, able to cater for weddings, corporate meetings, parties and the like, with customers able to enjoy the stunning panoramic views from the clubhouse and restaurant, which really helps to make any event special.
