The developer behind hundreds of homes being built in Helston has revealed a new pedestrian and cycle link on its site has been approved by the council.
This will be put in place by Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon, the builders on the Trehenlis Gardens site.
There is planning permission to build 400 homes on land adjacent to Clodgey Lane and Gay’s Hill.
The new route will connect the development with existing infrastructure, attaching to a public right of way adjacent to the roundabout next to Premier Inn. The application has also been supported by Helston Town Council.
The site was recently visited by Cornwall Council Leader, Cllr Linda Taylor, Cabinet Member for Planning and Housing, Cllr Oliver Monk, and Divisional Ward Councillor, Cllr Guy Foreman.
The builder recently secured planning permission on its first phase at Helston that will initially see 94 new homes built - 19 of which will be transferred to a housing association partner to support the local community’s housing need.
The scheme will deliver road access, and public open spaces, and includes the retention of the existing landscape structure.

The wider site at Helston has outline permission for 404 new homes, with detailed plans for the second phase submitted for examination to Cornwall Council in April.
Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon technical director Robbie Brown said: “We’re very happy to have secured permission to deliver on the latest part of our plans for Trehenlis Gardens.
“Persimmon is committed to leaving a positive and lasting legacy in Helston and we know that active travel provision is a core part of what communities would like more of.
“We are always working with Cornwall Council officers to ensure our site and its public amenities are of the highest standards and we look forward to continuing in that vein as we make our vision for Helston a reality.”
