Jazz group, Fourthought Saxophone Quartet, donated £1,308.91 to Falmouth RNLI when they visited the station recently.
The money was raised during their fortnightly concerts at the Princess Pavilion throughout the summer and other venues they played at.
Group member Peter Boyd, who was the secretary of Porthleven RNLI Branch for two years and chairman for four, said: “In those roles, I was involved with the organisation of the Porthleven Lifeboat Day and money raised went to Penlee Lifeboat.
“However, with this fundraising and as we were playing in Falmouth, it was felt that the money collected should go to Falmouth Lifeboat.”
The group are amateurs and don’t charge for playing. Group member Kate Brian said: “We just put a collecting bucket out when we play and people are very generous.”
The group were welcomed at the station by Falmouth RNLI Coxswain Jonathon Blakeston, Falmouth Lifeboat Fundraisers Chair Julia Angove and Falmouth Lifeboat Treasurer Michele Sidebotham, who all thanked the Quartet for their support.
