Nine Foundation Learning students from Cornwall College embarked on an 11-day work experience trip to Seville in Spain.
The trip incorporated diverse placements in hospitality, administration, IT and customer services.
It marked an important opportunity for the learners hailing from the college's St Austell and Camborne campuses.
The trip saw students applying independent living skills they'd learned as part of their course to engage with Spanish culture.
In addition to work experience, they tackled daily tasks such as grocery shopping and meal planning.
David Price, head of Foundation Learning and high needs at The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), expressed the commitment to providing unique experiences across all its campuses.
Mr Price said: "As a group, we pride ourselves on delivering bespoke experiences across all our campuses, ensuring equal opportunities for every student.
"The recent success of the Seville trip for this group of Foundation Learning students shows our commitment to student-led learning."
He emphasised the rewards of collaborating with international organisations and noted how student benefits reinforced their enthusiasm to plan more curriculum-supporting journeys.
Roxy Kilmurray, curriculum area manager for Foundation Learning at Cornwall College St Austell shared her pride in the students' advancement.
She said: "We couldn’t be prouder of our incredible students.
"Some of our special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) learners had never been on a plane before, and for all of them this was their first time away from their families, so they’ve done exceptionally well to achieve what they have on this trip."
In embracing this incredible journey, students also undertook Spanish lessons aimed at boosting their confidence in navigating foreign environments.
Reports from employers at their work experience placements were overwhelmingly positive, thus making this a highly valuable addition to the students' CVs - boosting their employability prospects.
