THE oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world, Warrens Bakery, has opened its newest store at Bath Spa station, filling the platforms with the aroma of freshly baked sweet and savoury goods.

Located on the busiest two-platform station in the UK, the store was officially opened earlier this month by Louise Moye, Marketing Director at Warrens Bakery and Station Managers, Peter Jobson and Oana Apetroaie.

Conveniently situated on Platform One, Warrens Bakery Bath Spa is the Cornish bakery’s 42nd store across the West Country and South Wales.

Following the success of the bakery’s recent Cullompton services rebrand, the opening at Bath Spa station is part of their wider plans for more stores in the travel sector, as Cornwall’s oldest bakery looks to share the best of British baking alongside great coffee with the nation for breakfast and lunch.

Established in 1860, Warrens Bakery has a rich heritage and is proud to put a firm focus on provenance, hand-crafted skill, traditional favorites and innovation.

Louise Moye, Marketing Director at Warrens Bakery, says: “We are delighted to officially open our newest bakery at Bath Spa railway station. The new opening marks a significant milestone for us, as Warrens Bakery ventures further into the travel sector and further East.

"It also provides us with a great opportunity to bring the warmth and aroma of our freshly baked goods together with great coffee to the bustling heart of the Bath community, in a convenient way.

"Bath Spa station is a bustling travel hub bringing people together from all walks of life and we look forward to becoming a part of people's daily routines, commuters' journeys or as a treat for visitors in the area exploring the beauty of Bath.”

Great Western Railway, Bath Spa Station Manager, Oana Apetroaie, adds: "It's fantastic to welcome a new outlet to Platform 1, bringing a little bit of Cornwall to Bath, and further improving the full range of services we offer customers as they use the station."

Speaking on behalf of AmeyTPT, corporate partners to Great Western Railway, David Corp; said: “We’re delighted to have helped bring Warrens’ popular High Street fascia onto the rail environment.  The respective teams at GWR and Warrens Bakery have worked closely with stakeholders to deliver the new unit which is a fantastic addition to GWR Bath Spa station.  We wish Warrens Bakery every success with this new venture.”

From humble beginnings on the cobbled streets of St. Just, two Cornish families, the Warrens and the Harveys, in 1860 united in marriage. One family provided the filling while the other family made the pastry and baked the pasties and this is how Warrens Bakery was established.

Popularity for their Cornish pasties and Saffron Cakes quickly grew amongst miners, farmers and the local community. 160 years on and Warrens Bakery is proud to be the oldest Cornish pasty producer in the world, feeding families for generations.
