There will be plenty of festive activities to keep the children (and adults!) entertained during the Christmas holidays in and around Helston.
Now that the children have broken up from school, Discover Helston have released an up-to-date calendar of what is happening where and when this week right up until Christmas Day.
Trevena Garden Centre, Helston Railway Station, CAST and 42 The Living Room on Coinagehall Street will all be providing festive fun for all members of the family during the rest of the week.
The following details where and when events will be happening in and around Helston in the lead-up to Christmas Day:
Wednesday, December 20
Trevena Cross Nurseries Santa’s Grotto
From Wednesday, December 20 until Saturday 23, Santa’s Grotto will be open daily from 9.30am until 4.30pm. Pre-booking is required. To book visit:As well as a grotto there will be other things to see and do at Trevena including a festive photo opportunity, a shop full of Christmas and the popular Garden Kitchen Café.
Helston Railway Santa Train
Helston Railway will be open for visits with Santa and train rides on the eight days in the run-up to Christmas. Train rides will commence on December 20, 21, 22 and 23 starting at 9.30 with last visits at 4pm.
There will also be ‘Special Night Train’ rides on Wednesday, 20 Thursday 21, Friday 22, and Saturday, 23.

The Museum of Cornish Life
The Museum of Cornish Life is working with Helston Library and Information Centre to bring Rhyme Time specifically for babies and children who enjoy stories and rhymes.
It is also designed to provide an inclusive space for parents and carers to meet up and make new friends.

Helston Rotary Carol Concert in aid of Children’s Hospice Southwest.
The carol concert will begin at 7.30pm on December 20 at Helston Methodist Church. The free service will also be offering people a chance to take part in a raffle with a top prize of a hamper provided by Helston Tesco.
The Inn & Still Quiz Night
The quiz will begin at 8pm and will finish at approximately 11pm. The cost will be £2 per entry for teams of up to six people. The winning team will take home the pot at the end of the night.
Thursday, December 21
CAST Christmas print workshop and Helston Town Band.
Between 10 and 7pm, CAST will be offering children and their parents or carers the opportunity to join in their Christmas print shop to work simple forms into bold, bright Scandinavian folk-style patterns. No booking is required and entry is free.
Helston Town Band will be performing some festive favourites in CAST Café from 7pm. There will be mince pies and mulled wine available.
Friday, December 22
Live Music at the Rodney
There will be live music on Friday, December 22 at the Rodney on Meneage Street between 9am and 11pm.
Saturday, December 23
42 The Living Room: Nightlight Groove on Sight
Groove on Sight has to be due to perform throughout the evening, this has been postponed until the New Year.

Inn & Still: Live Music Sessions
There will be plenty of live music at the Inn & Still on December 23.
Sunday, December 24
Helston Central Methodist Church: Christmas Eve Communion
On Christmas Eve, Helston’s Central Methodist Church will be opening its doors for members of the public to gather for communion at 11.15pm.
St Michael's Church: Midnight Mass
St Michael's Church will host a service to welcome the arrival of Christmas Day from 11.30pm to 12.30am.
Proper Job Disco
Due to popular demand, Proper Job Disco will be continuing its tradition of playing music on the Bulwark Estate on Christmas Eve. However, the event is weather-dependent and will be no later than 7.30pm.
