The expansion of a campsite in West Cornwall would allow 40 additional caravan pitches, as part of a larger rebranding of the site.
This is what the owners of Higher Penderleath Resort have told Cornwall Council in their planning application to carry out work at the site near St Ives.
The application is to create 40 camping / touring caravan pitches all year round at a field next to the site at Penderleath. The original site has been used for touring caravan plots and camping sites for several decades.
A planning statement by RA Design Ltd, on behalf of the applicant, says: “The plan is to extend Higher Penderleath Caravan and Camp Site into Higher Penderleath Resort as part of a larger rebranding of the entire site and take on the ownership when his father is no longer involved.
“The business is in need of some updating and bringing it into the 21st century whilst staying in keeping with the surroundings and designated land within this area. This is something my client would like to take on for life as it is something he really enjoys and is very passionate about.”

It adds: “We are aware of the visual impact on this area from the north and to protect this we have decided to plant native planting to screen all areas and this will be very similar to how this works on the exiting caravan park.”

All planning applications submitted to the council are available for inspection by the public and anyone is allowed to submit comments about the applications – whether in support or objection.
The majority of applications are decided by planning officers at the council under delegated powers. However, some applications will go before elected councillors who sit on planning committees.
No date has been set for when the planning applications will be determined.
