FALMOUTH welcomed its newest addition to the port as its second 40-ton bollard pull tug arrived from the Mersey on Sunday.
Falmouth Lifeboat's all-weather lifeboat the 'Richard Cox Scott' was out at sea on an exercise and greeted the port's newest addition, the 'Morva' as it made her way to her new home.
The welcome included a traditional water salute using a fire hose and 'Morva' was also greeted by the port's tug, St Piran.
, joining the 'Mercia', which recently towed the massive cargo ship 'Mazarine' after its grounding on Wolf Rock back in July of last year.
In an update posted online, Falmouth Lifeboat said: "This morning Falmouth welcomed the port's new tug 'Morva' (Cornish for gift from the sea).
"Our all-weather lifeboat 'Richard Cox Scott' was out at sea on exercise and welcomed 'Morva' to her new home, the traditional way using her fire hose for a water salute and was joined by port tug St.Piran.
"'Morva' was bought home from the Mersey by our very own Mark Rickard, who was delighted at the welcome received. The new tug becomes the second 40-ton bollard pull tug for A&P, joining 'Mercia', which recently towed the cargo ship 'Mazarine' after its grounding on Wolf Rock.
"'Morva' however, becomes the ports first 'green' tug, running on HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil)."
