Volunteer rescuers saved the life of a missing man today after almost two days of searching.
Emergency services had been hunting since Monday evening, when the high-risk missing person had last been seen.
Police issued a public appeal for helping in finding the 60-year-old, who had been reported missing from the Penzance area.
Today (Wednesday) they gave an update to say he had been found.
Now more details have been revealed about the rescue, with a volunteer for West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team the one to find him.
The group had already been out on Tuesday helping in the search, but were asked by police to head back out again today to continue looking.
Although the temperature was not as cold as it had been last week, the previous night had been very wet and windy following Storm Jocelyn and there was growing concern for the man's welfare.
Volunteers gathered at Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team's base, from where two foot teams carried out searches of woodland areas, whilst coastguards searched additional locations.
Also joining the search were East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team, two search dog teams from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England, Penzance police officers and St Ives Coastguard Rescue Team.
A West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team spokesperson said: "As the first search areas were being completed the missing male was thankfully located by one of our team members.
"He was immediately treated by a team cas-carer [casualty carer] while further teams brought rewarming and medical kit. We were then able to transport him to a nearby road-head, and into the care of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
"We all wish him a speedy recovery."
Once the kit was organised and stowed, the team stood down just before 12pm.
This was the sixth call-out since the new year for the team members, which are all volunteers and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year to help emergency services to search for missing, vulnerable and injured people across West Cornwall.
The team relies on public donations to operate. To support the volunteers and leave a donation visit the website: https://westcornwallsar.co.uk/support-us/
