One of the UK’s fastest-growing independent bakery companies has reopened its refurbished and expanded store.
Cornish Bakery has this week reopened its refurbished and expanded St Ives bakery with the help of ITV’s The Voice UK 2019 winner and local singer, Molly Hocking.
The building’s upstairs area has been opened up with added seating capacity and an art gallery space featuring works by local artists. The new bakery was officially opened by Molly Hocking on Tuesday, February 13.
The expansion to the building on the town’s Fore Street has created a more spacious environment for customers to enjoy their Cornish Bakery experience surrounded by the work of local artists, creatives and makers. The bakery has also said that customers can also purchase some of these artworks.
Given the company’s birthplace in Mevagissey in Cornwall, the team said it is always keen to showcase the talents, products and artworks of Cornish makers. The St Ives bakery is adorned with lights from Cornwall-based Lin Lovekin and Studio Haran alongside inspirational paintings and illustrations from South West-based artists Sophie Harding and William Luz. The bakery’s exterior colour remains as India Yellow in keeping with the character of the local area.
Cornish Bakery Founder and Owner, Steve Grocutt said: "After many years in our St Ives bakery we have outgrown it! Over time, our brand has changed significantly, our product range has evolved into a more fulsome bakery experience and coffee has become our best seller.
"Under our brand, we have injected more space and character into our St Ives location. I am confident it will be the premium space and experience for both residents in, and visitors to, the beautiful town of St Ives.
"Bakery is the new coffee shop, and we are at the forefront of this. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers, new and old, into our revamped St Ives bakery."
