A celebration of all things Cornish will be getting underway in Redruth shortly at this year’s St Piran’s Festival.
The annual event, which marks Cornwall's patron saint, is being held throughout today (Saturday) ahead of St Piran's Day on Tuesday.
With more than 50 market stalls and musical events at various locations, one of the main parts of the day with be the festival parade – which this year has a new route to allow for a bigger celebration.
The revised route will start from Lemins Court, head along a section of Chapel Street and eventually turn into Fore Street.
Festivities will conclude at the Flowerpot Chapel car park with the traditional blessing and Trelawny Shout performance.
Redruth Town Council's event and marketing manager, Alice Lamming, said: “We have some great entertainment planned – a mixture of old favourites and new performers – as well as a busy and varied market.
"The new parade route will make it better for all and we can't wait to see how people respond to the theme of 'A Celebration of Cornwall'."
The Redruth Library will have a Quiet Room, ideal for festival-goers needing a tranquil space will be available, with sensory toys, ear defenders and pop-up tents.
The town mayor, Cllr Stephen Barnes, and town crier, Max Morrison, will formally open the festival at 10am.
Minutes before the festival starts, the town crier's newly commissioned Story Coat will be unveiled, marking the conclusion of a project led by local artist Sue Hill.
