This year's Cross of St Piran Awards saw winners from across Cornwall, including Falmouth, Helston and Camborne.
At a service held at St Piran’s Church in Perranzabuloe, The Rt Revd Hugh Nelson, bishop of St Germans, presented the accolades to individuals.
These awards annually recognise those who have considerably contributed in their service beyond their call of duty.
Speaking after the service, Mr Nelson said: "As I gave out the St Piran’s awards to our wonderful recipients, it struck me that each of them is a bright light, shining with love for God and people, in communities up and down Cornwall."
Notably, among the award recipients was David Williams from Helston, recognised for his commendable work with Mustard Seed, a Christian charity.
He said: "I feel immensely honoured to have been awarded a Cross of St Piran.
"We all can make a difference; whether large or small it does not matter, what matters is that together we try, that we love as God would and that we don’t give up."
Another award for Climate Justice and Creation Care was presented to Lucy Thompson from Falmouth.
Reacting to her recognition, she said: "It is a wonderful surprise and a great honour to be awarded a Cross of St Piran.
"In receiving the award, I feel I am ‘taking one for the team’ in the nicest possible way!"
The efforts of Revd Mark Richards from Camborne, who has worked in healthcare chaplaincy for nearly 15 years in Cornwall, were also celebrated.
Reflecting on his award, he expressed: "I am both honoured and humbled to receive the Cross of St Piran.
"Being a Healthcare Chaplain has always been a privilege, particularly during the years of the pandemic."
The award recipients ranged from individuals who had gone to great lengths to serve specific projects to those who were recognised for their total period of service.
The award is largely peer-nominated and celebrates service above and beyond the norm within the diocese.
As noted by Bishop Hugh, these recipients are a beacon of love and service within their communities.
Whether serving in church or focusing on specific social causes, each of the awardees has shown substantial dedication and contribution to their community through their services.
