Nansloe Academy celebrated World Book Day in style once again this year, transforming the school into scenes inspired by the popular "Little People, Big Dreams" book series.
Children donned costumes of their favourite book characters, with superstars like Freddie Mercury and Dolly Parton enjoying the festivities.
The school became a wonderland, featuring a Coco Chanel-inspired catwalk, a Jane Goodall-themed rainforest, and even a stage and microphone fit for Elton John.
Beyond the imaginative walkthrough, students took part in exciting activities linked to the book series. From rocket-building workshops to peering through microscopes donated by the Royal Microscope Society, the day was filled with learning and fun. Tree planting was another activity on the agenda, highlighting the environmental themes explored in some of the books.
Little People, Big Dreams is a series of children’s books which explores the lives of notable people from designers and artists to musicians and scientists. Each book contains facts, photos and a timeline of their lives is shown at the back of the book.
"I loved seeing all the children's faces when they walked in," said Mrs. Lucy Swiggs, Head of Nansloe Academy. "It makes all the hard work worthwhile."
Mrs Swiggs also expressed her thanks to Trevena Cross Nurseries for their plant donations and the dedicated staff who ensured a truly special World Book Day for the students by staying late on Wednesday.
