Residents are being asked to have their say on plans to turn a disused shed into a holiday let in Porthleven, Cornwall.
Mr and Mrs Christian Gordon are seeking planning permission to convert a disused storage shed into a holiday unit behind The Studio on Thomas Terrace in Porthleven.
According to the application, viewable via the planning portal on Cornwall Council’s website, plans include renovating the building, which a surveyor’s report indicates is in "poor condition".
The couple aims to reuse the existing stone as facing material to ensure the new walls aesthetically match the surroundings.
The application also states that the couple wants to make use of the building to create a holiday unit. Due to the fixed footprint of the existing structure, the proposal details the creation of a one-bedroom unit.
There are also plans to renew an existing mezzanine level for additional space. However, due to the height of the existing building, it is not suitable for an adequate first-floor bedroom, so this new proposal includes the addition of a new raised roof.
It also mentions that due to constraints of the adjacent properties, it was felt that a shallow pitch-natural slate roof would be the best option, as well as existing doors to be adapted where possible to suit the new use of timber windows and doors.
The access statement states that it is proposed that the unit can be served with an accessible threshold and the ground of the floor will be open plan. However, given the size of the unit, further accessible measures are not possible.
Residents living near the property are now able to have their say on the proposed development, via Cornwall Council's plannng portal, reference PA24/01379.
It is also listed on the Public Notice Portal , where you can see other public notices in your area, including alcohol licensing, probate and good vehicle licences via the Public Notice Portal: https://publicnoticeportal.uk/falmouth-penryn-packet
This states that as part of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) any owner of the land or tenant who wishes to make representations about the application must send a letter to Cornwall Council before March 20, 2024.
