A huge concert is coming to a church in Redruth to celebrate 10 years of Cornwall's national minority status.
Two singing collectives and the Cornwall Concert Orchestra will perform in Wesley Church on April 27 at 7pm.
This event is seen as a significant showcase of the Cornish language and unique Cornish culture.
With singers, songwriters, a poet, and Cornish speakers collaborating to detail an unforgettable night.
The Treylva Collective comprises of nine individuals who are passionate about Cornwall’s music and language.
They will join up with the Breselor Ensemble, who are credited for the revival of Cornish classical music.
Both groups will share the stage with the Cornwall Concert Orchestra, leveraging the exceptional acoustics of the 19th-century Wesley Church.
Ben Sutcliffe, a member of both The Treylva Collective and the Breselor Ensemble, said: "The creativity and Cornish-ness in the pieces of work we plan to share is incredible.
"Combining the Cornish language in all its intricacies with the talent of local musicians, singers, and songwriters will create a magical event which we think will become a little piece of Cornish history."
This concert has its roots in a fruitful partnership from 2023 between St Endelienta Arts and Lowender, which resulted in the creation of works featuring the Cornish language.
The partnership also sparked the formation of The Treylva Collective.
Jowdy Davey, a trustee of Lowender supporting the concert at Wesley Church said: "To celebrate 10 years of Cornish National Minority Status with this event is going to be very special.
"Giving people the opportunity to engage in our culture in this way means people can hear Cornish voices, our native language and Cornwall’s historic classical music.
"I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the anniversary!"
Tickets are already available for the concert on April 27, coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of Cornwall's National Minority Status.
The UK Government acknowledged the Cornish as a national minority on April 24, 2014.
This status respects Cornish peoples' rights to express, conserve, and disseminate their distinctive identity and culture, placing them on par with the Scots, Welsh, and Irish.
The concert is backed by Endelienta Arts and Lowender CIO, and funded by Cornwall Council.
