The Fish Factory Arts CIC in Penryn has received £50,500 Community Levelling Up grant from Cornwall Council 

Fish Factory Arts CIC based has been awarded a £50,549 Community Levelling Up grant by Cornwall Council, from the government's £7.6m Community Levelling Up Programme (CLUP), part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The Fish Factory, based in in Commercial Road, Penryn, is an inclusive multi-function arts and community space, bringing together diverse groups of people to engage in arts, creative and community activities. This new project allows them to expand their provision of community programming.

The project will make important upgrades to the Community Café space, improve the pavement seating area and make the building more accessible. The works will make the café a more inviting space and enable the organisation to provide more outreach and programming opportunities involving food.

The grant will also fund three part time job roles which will allow The Fish Factory to expand the programming on offer for local people, outreach to new groups and ultimately increase the number of people who are able to benefit from access to one of their programmes.

The workshops on offer will be varied, with a focus on sharing food and gaining new skills.

Cllr Louis Gardner, Cornwall Council portfolio holder for economy, said: “This inclusive and much-loved arts space will be able to inspire the community to get involved with creativity, the arts and activities within their own locality, making culture more accessible to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.”

This funding has been allocated from Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme. The Community Levelling Up Programme is part of the Good Growth Programme, which is delivering the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
