Firefighters from Falmouth, Helston and The Lizard have been busy this week called to a house fire, an out of control bonfire and a first gorse fire of the season.
On Sunday night firefighters were called to Conway road, Falmouth at 9:19pm to a residential property fire.
Three appliances from Falmouth and Helston went to the property where the fire was originally reported in a tumble dryer.
However when they arrived, they found that the conservatory of the property was well alight.
They used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two triple extension ladders, one thermal imaging camera and a ceiling hook to put out the fire.
Yesterday Falmouth firefighters were called to the A394, Longdowns area of Falmouth at 8:05 in the morning to a bonfire which had got out of control.
The fire had spread to a number of plastic road barriers which had melted. They used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to put out the fire which they said was accidental.
Then yesterday afternoon at 4.28pm firefighters from St Keverne and Mullion Fire Stations were called to Trelan, St Keverne to the first gorse fire of the season.
The blaze involved a 60m front of trees and scrubland on fire and the crews used a hose reel and beaters to put it out.
Crews spent some time damping down and checking for hotspots before leaving the scene but said there had been a lack of water to tackle the blaze.
Posting on Facebook, the firefighters said they had struggled to find water and said it was the St Keverne crew’s first gorse fire of the year for the St Keverne crew.
“We were joined by our colleagues from 3.3 Mullion due to the lack of water supplies in the vicinity of the fire ground,” they said.
