A man in his 50s dies after a collision on the A38 near Bodmin at the weekend.

A woman was also left seriously injured following the accident on the A38 which happened in the Glynn Valley at around 12.30pm on Sunday.

Police, Fire, and Ambulance Services, helped by the Cornwall Air Ambulance, attended the scene - between Bodmin Parkway train station and The Halfway House.

The driver of a silver Honda Jazz hatchback involved in the collision was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Three people, who were travelling in a red Nissan Navara pick-up, were taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske to be treated for their injuries, which were believed to be minor. A female passenger was taken to Derriford Hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended the incident and carried out a detailed investigation of the scene.

The road was closed in both directions between Glynn Valley Crematorium and the Dobwalls roundabout for several hours while police carried out an investigation. Diversions were put in place with drivers warned to avoid the area. 

Cornwall Council issued a warning that the road was expected to be closed for the rest of today.
