Huge crowds came out to see Helston Town Band take part in the annual May Day parade through the town this evening (Wednesday).
After yet more rain at the start of the week, the weather cleared up nicely to leave a dry and bright evening for this evening's parade.
You can see photos of the evening May Day parade in Helston below and in our photo gallery above.
It was the second of the day for Helston Town Band, who always start and end May 1 with a procession around the town at 7am and 7pm.
Taking place exactly a week before Flora Day, it gives a chance to prepare for Helston's famous day of festivities, with the band playing the same tune that only they can play so well.
It was a particularly special day for band member Keith Busby, celebrating his birthday today.
A good number of people were out watching on the streets at 7am, but many more were there for the evening event, with crowds watching all along the route.
A large number of people also took the opportunity to join on behind the band and dance - perhaps getting in some last minute Flora Day practice, and giving those otherwise unable to dance on the main day a chance to experience the thrill of taking part.
At both 7am and 7pm the band gathered outside the Guildhall to begin the procession up and down Meneage Street, on to Wendron Street and down Penrose Road onto Church Street.
The 7pm parade also saw the procession head through St Johns before entering Coinagehall Street, going around the bowling green and returning back up the street to the Guildhall.
At one point it looked as though the evening parade would have to come to an abrupt conclusion when, as band members gathered in a circle outside the Guildhall for a final playing of the tune, an ambulance with emergency sirens came up the street.
Showing true Helston Town Band dedication, however, the band members parted to allow the ambulance through - all the while continuing to play.
The moment was captured on the Packet's Facebook Live video of the end of the parade, which can be seen below.
