Cornwall boasts some of the most stunning beaches in the UK, but one cove in particular has just received global recognition.
Kynance Cove has been named one of The World’s 50 Best Beaches by worlds50beaches.com
The picturesque Cornish beach has been ranked among some of the most beautiful destinations in the world including beaches in Japan, Hawaii, Thailand, Greece and New Zealand.
Not only was Kynance named one of the best in the world, but it was also the only beach in the whole of the UK to make the list.
According to Time Out UK, the top 50 beaches were picked by 1,000 travel influencers, journalists, and professionals and were ranked according to eight criteria. These include unique characteristics, wildlife, untouched soundtrack of nature, accessible water, calmness of the water, business, and frequency of idyllic conditions.
World's Best Beaches explained why Kynance Cove was selected among some of the best. They said: “The combination of turquoise waters and white sand makes it a remarkable standout, especially given its more northern location.
“At low tide, hidden caves and islands become accessible for exploration, adding to the allure of the area.”
The cove was ranked number 48 on the list, with Trunk Bay in the US Virgin Islands voted number one, Cala Mariolu in Ital number two and Meads Bay in Anguilla number three.
Kynance was also ranked 10th for the best beaches in Europe alongside Achmelvice Beach in Scotland in 17th, St Ninian’s Beach in 43rd and Wales Three Cliffs Bay in 47th.
In 2021, the Packet reported that Kynance was ranked one of the most beautiful walking routes in the UK.
More recently, it was named one of the best places to visit in the winter months due to its warmness.
Parkdean Resorts reported at the time that Kynance – which is located two miles north of the Lizard Peninsula was one of the best winter walks in the UK with an average temperature of 11.5c. You can read more about this here: Cornish Cove tops list of warmest beaches to visit during winter
