A jetskier had to put out a Mayday call after falling off their machine with another person onboard and they couldn’t get back on board as it drifted away.
The driver of the machine had the kill cord attached to their arm which cut the engine as they fell off. The passenger was unable to help as the vessel drifted away from the person in the water.
Penlee Inshore Lifeboat was called out to the Mayday Distress Call from the jet skier who’d fallen off his machine two miles south of two miles south of St Michael’s Mount .
The Mollie & Ivor Dent with four volunteer crew on board launched at 4:55pm after being contacted by Falmouth Coastguard.
"The person driving the machine had fallen off and was unable to get back aboard the jet ski that was occupied by another person, as he had the kill cord attached to his arm which meant jet ski was dead in the water and could not help they drifted apart."
Falmouth Coastguard received a VHF call from the casualty and sent out a Mayday Distress call for any vessels in the area to help.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched immediately just six minutes from the launch request. A Royal Navy Merlin Helicopter that was training close by also diverted to the area and located the casualty in the sea.
They confirmed the new position to Falmouth Coastguard which was relayed to the Inshore Lifeboat. Five minutes from launching Penlee Inshore Lifeboat ‘Mollie & Ivor Dent’ arrived on scene and located the casualty about 300 yards away from the jet ski, he was quickly pulled out of the sea and given a medical assessment.
“Thankfully due to the casualty wearing a dry suit and lifejacket no medical assistance was required, he was put back on board his Jet ski,” said Penlee Lifeboat in a post on Facebook.
Penlee Inshore Lifeboat escorted the jet ski to Penzance Harbour, where members of Penzance Coastguard Cliff Rescue team were on hand to give further assistance.
