A man in his 40s is in hospital with life-changing injuries following a suspected gas explosion at a property in southeast Cornwall.
Emergency services were called to a property on Delaware Road, Drakewells at around 6:45 pm after reports of a loud explosion.
The man was found at the property and rushed to the hospital with life-changing injuries, where he remains as of Monday morning (May 13).
As a precaution, a 100-meter cordon remains in place around the affected area to ensure public safety. Multiple emergency services personnel are still on the scene.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 6.45pm on Sunday 12 May to Delaware Road, Drakewalls, following a report of a suspected gas explosion at a property.
"Emergency services attended the scene where one person was found to have sustained life-changing injuries. The man, in his 40s, remains in hospital being treated.
"Multiple services remain at the scene this morning to ensure the safety of the premises and a 100m cordon is currently in place."
