Truro City Council has appointed MBE as the new permanent town clerk for Truro.
He moves into the role after serving as interim town clerk since March.
The decision came after a competitive recruitment process that saw applications from across the country.
Before stepping into the interim role, Truro City Council had been without a permanent town clerk for a considerable span.
In his interim capacity, Mr Rodda worked closely with council members, management team members, and partners to push forward vital development plans.
He also successfully ensured that the City Council continued delivery of first-rate services to the local community.
Mayor Carol Swain expressed her approval of the decision, stating: "I am absolutely delighted that our Interim Town Clerk David Rodda has accepted the offer of the permanent position of Town Clerk.
"Like other councils we have faced a number of significant challenges and we are looking forward to working with David and our Deputy Clerk Esther Greig, who was appointed earlier this year, to address these and help the City Council to continue to move forward over the coming months."
Mr Rodda’s portfolio boasts over two decades of experience in economic development, grant distribution, and town rejuvenation within Cornwall.
His previous position as economic growth manager for Cornwall Council saw him engaging with various towns to breathe life back into their town centres.
Mr Rodda himself thanked the city councillors, stating: "During my time as Interim Clerk I have been very impressed by the commitment of councillors and council staff to Truro.
"This is a key moment for our city with a number of major projects coming to fruition over the coming months.
"At the same time we are continuing to face some significant financial challenges.
"I am very excited by the opportunity to play my part in supporting the Council to lead the regeneration of the city and ensure that the benefits are delivered in all our communities – not just the city centre."
His new role will see him spearheading initiatives that aim to transform Truro into a 'great little city' for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
By continuing to deliver high-quality services and ensuring value for money, Mr Rodda's goal is to foster a city and a council that all can take pride in.
