A construction specialist has been given the go-ahead for Sky Primary and East Project Nursery in West Carclaze.
Reds10 has received approval from Cornwall Council for the project.
The new school and nursery are planned to be net-zero in operation and will utilise Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
The Sky Primary and East Project Nursery, measuring at 1,750m2, will provide school places for 210 pupils and 26 places in the nursery.
This will be set up in the wider residential development of West Carclaze Garden Village.
The project leads include Reds10 as the main contractor and architecture and interior design by Sense of Space Architects.
The plans have been developed in collaboration with the Department for Education (DfE) and the Kernow Learning Trust.
The construction will creatively utilise Reds10's MMC factory facility in East Yorkshire, as 87 per cent of the new two-storey school building will be manufactured in Driffield.
It will then be transported to West Carclaze for on-site assembly, minimising local disruption.
Energy conservation measures will be heavily implemented.
Air source heat pumps, PV panels and windcatchers installed on the roof align with the school's energy strategy.
Clare Crowle, CEO of Kernow Learning, said: "We are incredibly proud of Sky and its first cohorts based at Eden.
"We are feeling excited at the progress towards finally arriving at our permanent site – building the future for Sky before our very eyes."
The design is carefully crafted to harmonise with the West Carclaze Garden Village setting, with locally sourced stone and fibre cement panels making up the exterior, and ample green spaces on the premises.
Joe Shepherd, director and education sector lead for Reds10, said: "Delivering sustainable, high-quality and cost-effective new schools is an ongoing challenge for the education sector but the broadly similar requirements of school buildings in the UK make them particularly amenable to the standardisation that MMC delivers.
"Sky Primary and East Project Nursery is a fantastic opportunity to illustrate the benefits of MMC".
The new school is planned to start groundworks in Spring 2024, welcoming its first modules on site in autumn 2024.
Richard Addenbrook, managing director at Sense of Space, said: "We are looking forward to seeing this highly sustainable project take shape, initially in Reds10's factory and subsequently on site in this beautiful location."
