Cornwall residents are being urged to nominate a care worker for a Proud to Care award.

The honour recognises stellar performance in the care sector and aims to spotlight the incredible effort of care staff workers across the region.

Andy Virr, Cornwall Council cabinet lead for adult social care and health, said: "With over 15000 workers supporting others across the region we know there will be many people who deserve recognition for the work they do."

The categories for nomination include Newcomer of the Year, Care or Nursing Home Worker of the Year, Community-Based Worker of the Year, Personal Assistant of the Year, Dementia Champion, Hidden Treasures, Social Care Nurse of the Year, Registered Manager of the Year and Innovation in Care.

Speaking on what nominators should include in their submissions, Mr Virr said: "When putting forward your nomination please write as much detail as possible about why they deserve the award.

"Explain what they do and how it makes a positive impact".

Residents have until midnight on June 30 to nominate.

Entries can be submitted through the Proud to Care Cornwall Awards website: www.proudtocareawards.co.uk/.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on July 20 at Lys Kernow, New County Hall in Truro.
