A jumble sale held in memory of a baby girl from Falmouth has raised a staggering amount of money for Bristol Children's Hospital charities.

Jessica Church and Josh Young organised the event in memory of their daughter Ivy, who sadly passed away from a heart defect at just two weeks old in 2022.

The couple's dedication to fundraising continues, with the jumble sale raising over £2,000 for the Grand Appeal and Cots for Tots.

The Grand Appeal supports sick children and their families at Bristol Children's Hospital year-round, while Cots for Tots specifically raises money for the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where Ivy received care.

"One of our ways of keeping Ivy's legacy alive is to fundraise for the charities," Josh told the Packet in April.

"All funds raised will fund the paediatric care unit Ivy was on. We want to raise as much money as we can for the hospital, it would mean so much for us."

The successful jumble sale was held on Saturday, May 4th at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Falmouth.

Josh expressed his gratitude for the community's support, mentioning the fantastic turnout with people lining up before the event.

He said: “The turnout for the jumble sale was fantastic, with people lining up before the doors even opened.

"We had an amazing day. A great team of family and friends helped us set up and make the day perfect.

“Local people also helped by collecting donations, with the help of social media we managed to get the message out there about donations.

“There was even a visit from Elsa, the Snow Queen, who met with children and raised additional funds."

Donations included a themed Wallace and Gromit cake created by a local baker, and vouchers from businesses such as The Greenbank Hotel, Meudon Hotel and various cafes.

“We kept the prices reasonable as the cost of living crisis has been difficult for so many people,” the couple added.

“We raised just over £2000 from our charity jumble sale which will help the PICU which treats, and cares for babies and young children and will also help support their families at Bristol Children’s Hospital all in memory of our beautiful daughter Ivy.

"We would like to thank everyone from the local community who helped us make this event happen and turned up on the day to help support us, we are still blown away by how successful it was.

“On the back of this amazing success and as so many people have already asked when will our next one be, we are now at the start of planning another charity event this year.

“So we will be collecting donations again soon, everyone who wishes to donate can contact us through our social page For Ivy & me page or by email at joshjwy@live.co.uk. “
