A mother from Cornwall has shared her outrage after her 10-year-old son was said to have sustained electrical burns at a funfair in Falmouth.
Natalie Kellow said her son Jack was at the Ben-Vey’s Funfair on Thursday evening when he reportedly sustained electrical burns on the dodgem ride. It’s unclear exactly how the incident occurred.
The police attended the scene, and Jack was taken to hospital for treatment. He was discharged a few hours later. However, Natalie said that Jack was ‘incredibly lucky.'
Although Natalie said she is ‘incredibly proud’ of Jack's bravery following the incident on Thursday, she has criticized the fair for opening the ride today (Saturday).
She said: “I can’t believe the dodgems at the fair were up and running again today after Jack sustained electrical burns. The manager just offered Jack a few free ride tickets and a bag of candy floss.
Ben De-Vey, owner of the funfair, stated on Friday that he is awaiting the results of the HSE investigation.
“We wish the boy a full recovery,” De-Vey said. “And our thoughts are with the young lad.”
This incident has cast a shadow over the popular funfair, a regular visitor to Falmouth Rugby Club and draws thousands of attendees annually. The family affected has vowed to never return.
The HSE investigation is ongoing, and the public awaits its findings.
The Packet has contacted the funfair for a comment.
