Two motorcyclists have both been seriously injured and taken to hospital in two separate accidents in Cornwall today.

The Highways Agency said first that the accident involved a multi-vehicle collision on the A30 eastbound between the A390 at Chiverton Cross and the A39 at Carland Cross early this morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called the scene of the accident at around 7.34am and confirmed it involved a blue tractor and a motorcycle.

They said the motorcyclist involved was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with life threatening injuries The accident closed the A30 eastbound within the junction for Three Burrows at Chiverton Cross Roundabout.

The road was closed for around four hours with significant delays in the area. It was eventually reopened at around 4pm, Traffic was diverted off the exit slip road and rejoining via the entry slip road within Chiverton Cross Roundabout.

Police were then called to another accident involving a motorcyclist and a car on Chapel Hill, Cambrose near Camborne at around 12.20pm.

This motorcyclist was also taken to hospital and the road closed in both directions
