Fun and entertainment in Truro for Children’s Day

This the day when many businesses and organisations make children and young people their focus.

For the seventh year, Truro Business Improvement District (BID) have gathered nearly 35 City Centre businesses and organisations together to take part in the event.

There will be plenty of free entertainment and activities including the return of spectacular mountain bike stunt shows on Lemon Quay.

Walking and cycling charity Sustrans will be back with their popular free scooter, balance and pedal bike obstacle course for children, plus their exciting static cycle activity for young people to improve their off-road skills (bikes and helmets provided).

There will be free have-a-go sessions in circus skills with Swamp Circus, and this year dance performances from Flanagan’s School of Irish Dance, Cornwall Dance School, Jason Thomas Performing Arts and Stagecoach Truro.

Children can enjoy inflatables and swing boat rides, along with family-friendly crazy golf.

Lemon Quay will host a selection of market stalls featuring art and craft activities, and games. The Royal Cornwall Museum will be there with their ‘Rocks Rock’ stall offering handling of their marvellous minerals and rock-based art activities.

Families can follow the trail back from the ‘Rock Rocks’ stall to the museum to enjoy ten-minute tours of the Museum’s new digital lab, taking place from 11am - 3pm. No booking required.

There will be street entertainment popping up across the city, including circus performers and live music. Many of Truro’s shops and eateries will have family friendly in-store activities and offers, including art activities, offers, competitions and meal deals.

Stalls open from 9am, with activities such as with circus skills and mountain bike stunt shows starting from 10am.

This year, Children’s Day and the Truro Farmers Market will be sharing the event space on Lemon Quay. Residents and visitors will therefore be able to find a slightly smaller Truro Farmers Market at the top end of the Quay outside Hall for Cornwall.

Children’s Day is brought to the city by Truro BID and sponsored by Coodes Solicitors.

Children’s Day will have activities for all ages and the main activities running from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 6 July. Many activities are free although there will be a cost for some activities such as the crazy golf and the swing boats.
