Police have charged a man in connection with an assault in Market Place, Penzance on Sunday, June 16 which left another man with serious head injuries.

An 18-year-old man from Penzance has also been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and on suspicion of possessing a controlled Class A drug. He has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Officers were called by the ambulance service to a report of an assault in Market Place, Penzance, at around 3.40am on Sunday, June 16.

A local man in his 20s was taken to hospital after sustaining serious head injuries, police have said.

A police cordon was put in place at the scene while officers carried out inquiries.

  • Cory Middleton, 23, of Commercial Road, Penzance, has been charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is due to appear before Bodmin Magistrates’ Court today Friday 21 June 21.
