The landlady of a pub in Budock Water has praised the dedication and support from her team and members of the community after being declared the winner of the Packet Pub of the Year.
The Trelowarren Arms beat other worthy contenders including the Driftwood Spars, The Greenbank Hotel, and The Working Boat.
Trelowarren has become a cherished pub for the Budock Water community. Its weekly quiz and bingo nights draw large crowds, while the Post Office held on Thursday mornings is a popular service.
Not only this, but the pub always plays a vital role in providing space and service that can be used by all groups and ages. Charity and fundraising events are held regularly throughout the year at the pub to help those in the local community and further afield.
Landlady Anna Cavanagh told the Packet how she felt about being named this year’s Packet Pub of the Year. She said: “We are delighted to win this award.
“The pub game at present is not an easy one, with rising costs of utilities, rates and produce etc, it’s a tough industry to survive in.
“We are extremely lucky to have a constant and loyal customer base, that continually supports us.”
Anna also acknowledged the vital role which her team plays in the pub’s success and the support from customers. She said: “We would like to thank our fantastic team, without them, the day-to-day running and we are so grateful to all our customers who voted and continue to support us.
“All in all, we just try to be a good ‘local’ and give back to the community what we can.”
