Cornwall Hospice Care staff have been recognised for their work at the first-ever Palliative and End of Life Care Awards.
In a ceremony held in London on June 28, ten members of the organisation were announced as finalists.
The ceremony, hosted by Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway, aimed to pay tribute to individuals and organisations that excel in end of life and palliative care.
Among the charity's nominees and big winners was Siobhan Aris, an advanced nurse practitioner at the hospice.
She was honoured with the Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing (not for profit) Award.
Her tenacity was noted, particularly in the personalised care of complex symptom management.
An ecstatic Ms Aris said: "The awards are both a celebration and recognition of Palliative and End of Life Care nationally, the collaborative representation from Cornwall and the South West exciting; the award, a surprise and humbling."
Further excellence was seen in the cornerstone of the charity, its education team led by Jo Smith.
They were victorious finalists in the Palliative Care Team Award.
The team was commended for its commitment to enhancing person-centred care through compassionate palliative and end of life education.
Helen Treleaven, meanwhile, was another bright spot for the charity as a finalist for the Palliative Care Manager Award.
Notably, she manages Cornwall Hospice Care’s community services team, proving indispensable to pre and post bereavement services and as a lymphoedema specialist.
Clinical lead at Cornwall Hospice Care, Lisa Shephard couldn't hide her pride: "It says a great deal about the expertise and commitment of our charity’s teams that we were finalists in three categories of these new awards."
Attendees at the awards also included other healthcare providers from Cornwall.
Among these were the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Palliative and End of Life Care Strategic Alliance and NHS England South West.
