A college student from Cornwall has joined the top one per cent of students in the world to achieve full marks on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma course.
Aimee Paull, from Redruth, earned an impressive 45 out of 45 points on her IB course at Truro College.
This perfect score gives Aimee the equivalent to five A*s at A Level.
She said: "I was quite nervous leading up to results day and I wasn’t sure if I’d get what I needed to get into university, but I’m very happy."
It not only places Aimee in the top one per cent of IB Diploma students worldwide but also demonstrates an outstanding year for the IB Diploma cohort at Truro College with a 92 per cent pass rate.
Some 77 per cent of students scored over 30, at an average point score of 34.2.
The only provider of the IB Diploma in Cornwall, Truro College’s course requires students to excel across a broad spectrum of subjects in order to prepare them for the challenges of higher education and beyond.
Aimee added: "My favourite part of studying the IB was the people I met along the way."
As part of the IB, students participate in Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) schemes, allowing them to try new experiences.
Passionate about languages, Aimee is set to continue her education at the University of Cambridge, focusing on Modern and Medieval Languages, with an emphasis on Spanish and Portuguese.
She offered advice to aspiring students: "Prioritise your time, work hard and surround yourself with like-minded people."
Hailing originally from Uganda, fellow student Kaeya Brown also showcased her talents, scoring an impressive 38 points.
Kaeya moved to Cornwall after attending 7Hills International School in Kampala.
She said: "I chose the IB because I found that the teaching style was very similar to that at my international school."
IB coordinator at Truro and Penwith College, Angie Liversedge, said: "This year’s cohort of IB students have achieved some excellent results.
"I am truly proud of every one of them."
Applications are still open for students starting in September.
