UPDATE | 19-07-2024

The organisers of this event have announced that the majority of the day's proceedings will be moved to Sunday due to the weather forecast.

Helston Coronation Park will be buzzing with fun for all the family this weekend, including the revival of a beloved tradition.

The Hellys: All Together Now event on Saturday (July 20) will be packed with exciting activities at the Boating Lake and the Museum of Cornish Life. Throughout the day, there will be plenty to see and do, including the revival of a beloved tradition, the Water Carnival.

The Water Carnival is making a grand return to the town for the first time in hundreds of years. Originally launched in 1912 when Lower Green was flooded, the carnival was a way to encourage fun on the newly created Boating Lake. Organisers aim to bring this tradition back to Helston's calendar after a century-long absence.

This year's Water Carnival features a grand parade of custom-made floats. Onlookers will vote for their favourite float in the ‘Helstonians Choice’ award, with the winner leading the parade around the lake at 4pm and claiming a £100 prize.

The lake fun continues with a 'Recycled Bottle Sailing Race' at 3pm. Free workshops will help participants create their own miniature boats to race.

Beyond the Water Carnival, the park and the Museum of Cornish Life offer plenty of entertainment.

The annual Helston Town Band event on Event’s Square starts with performances by the Helston Town Band Youth Groups at 2pm. There will also be stalls and a raffle to enjoy.
