Lakeside café in Cornwall has appealed to people not to abuse its staff about the price of parking in the car park as they have nothing to do with it.

In a recent message on Facebook, The Good Vibes Café posted its staff being abused over the cost of parking at Argal Lake near Penryn.

It said over the last few months they’d heard from so many people about the parking situation at Argal.

But they say the car park isn’t run by them they just rent the cafe space from the South West Lakes Trust, who manage every aspect of the lake and they just take care of the food and drink.

“This means we don’t have a say in the price, the cameras, nor can we help with ticket appeals,” they said. “We have no line of contact with the parking company, they have been hired by South West Lakes to manage the car park.”

The lakes trust allow the café customers an hour of free parking and to redeem this people need to type in their numberplate into the tablet on their bar when they order. If they don’t put their numberplate in, they will be fined.

But this has caused problems for the café with some customers being rude to their staff.

“Disrespect to our employees will not be tolerated under any circumstance, whether in the cafe or over the phone,” they said. “Our team are working hard to bring you delicious food and coffee at the lake, and despite the fact the car park is nothing to do with them, they're still trying to help everybody that arrives in a pickle over parking. They don’t deserve to be spoken to rudely- Good Vibes only, hey?”

They say that they hope this clears the situation up and they can get back to enticing people up to the lake with snaps of sangers and dreamy coffees!

In reply South West Lakes Trust issued a statement saying: "The car park at Argal Lake is managed by South West Lakes Trust, with Smart Parking enforcing the car parking tariffs.

"Wild Vibes Café, a third-party licensee, has no management over the car park, so any issues regarding parking should be directed to Smart Parking or South West Lakes Trust.

“Wild Vibes customers who believe they have been wrongly fined can email info@swlakestrust.org.uk. They should include their name, car registration details and the ‘parking charge notice number’ beginning with ‘TC’."
