A combined effort from multiple emergency crews has brought a person to safety after they became stuck in mud in Cornwall.

Crews from the Polruan Coastguard Rescue Team, Tamar Coastguard Rescue Team, Looe Community Firestation, South Western Ambulance Service, and Cornwall Air Ambulance all attended the incident which happened at Polruan Tuesday (July 23)

The incident prompted a swift response from the emergency services.

The Polruan Coastguard team, supported by the Tamar Coastguard Rescue Team with their specialised mud rescue training, reached the scene alongside the Looe Fire Station, ambulance service, and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The casualty was carefully rescued from the muddy water and transported to a safe location, before being handed over to the ambulance service for further medical care.

Following the rescue the Polruan Coastguard team expressed their gratitude to members of the public who promptly alerted the authorities and to an off-duty coastguard who was nearby and provided crucial assistance.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service shared a statement regarding the incident on its website. It said: “Critical Control received a call to a person stuck in mud at 13:49.

“Crews from Polruan, Bodmin, Liskeard, St Austell and Plymouth were mobilised to assist ambulance on scene.

“The person was rescued from the mud by the crews and was left in care of the Ambulance service.”
