An angry McDonald’s customer has slammed the Falmouth branch after claiming he paid for his food online only to arrive to find the takeaway closed.

In a post on X he said that there was no indication on the McDonald’s App that the branch in Dracaena Avenue was closed and he spent £40 on food for him and group of his friends. But when he arrived he said he was just told that it was easy to get a refund.

Asking for an explanation from McDonald's on X he said: “I’d love an explanation as to why you let me spend £40 worth of food for a group of us in the Falmouth branch of McDonalds, only to find out it was shut when we arrive there and already paid for food.

“Then a woman comes out to say that it’s ‘easy’ to get a refund. Then I have to go through customer services three times, one person who is useless, the second pretends the line is faulty and the third believes that I am lying about the McDonalds being closed.

“When I call the Falmouth branch today, they hang up on me after I tell them what has happened and how I had to walk there in the rain, with the man who hung up saying “I’ll tell you what” before slamming down the phone on me.

“I want my money back I’ve never been treated so badly by customer service.”

McDonalds said the Falmouth branch had been closed temporarily following a sighting of “pests” to allow a full investigation to take place.

They didn’t say when it would re-open but said they would “liaise” with their pest control experts as to when they could safely reopen.

"Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us," they said adding that they apologised for any inconvenience caused.
