Thousands of mainly American passengers came ashore from the cruise ship Caribbean Princess when she anchored off the port for a cruise call in Falmouth this week, in what were perfect weather conditions for tendering passengers.
Town was awash with them. The parish church was very busy, they were eating pasties, soaking up the atmosphere and buying goods from the shops.
Local buses were acting as shuttle buses between docks and Maritime Museum some took passengers on excursions to Land's End, St Michael's Mount, Lanhydrock and other tours around west Cornwall to see the sights.
Falriver pleasure boats were on hand tendering people ashore. Princess Cruises have been lucky to enjoy perfect weather conditions for their numerous calls here which is great news for the port.
The ship has just started a cruise to Iceland and Greenland. Next stop is Cobh, Ireland and overnight steam from Falmouth. The vessel returns on August 14 and 30.
Great news for the town’s economy and Cornwall.
