A motorcyclist in his 70s has died after a crash with a tractor on the Helston to Penzance road yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to the A394 at Germoe just before 6pm on Tuesday (July 30).

Locals reported a collision closed to the junction with Tresowes Green, saying at the air ambulance had landed.

Devon and Cornwall Police have now confirmed that a motorcyclist, a man in his 70s from the local area, died at the scene and his next of kin are aware.

The road was closed for a number of hours while a forensic investigation took place at the scene of the collision.

Now police are hoping anyone who saw what happened, or who may have dash-cam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it, to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at around 5.55pm on Tuesday 30 July to the A394 at Germoe, near Helston, following a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor.

“The motorcyclist, a local man in his 70s, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

“The road was closed in both directions whilst the scene was examined by specialist forensic collision investigators.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience while that was carried out.
