The death of a Cornish engineer who was found in his hotel bed in France remains a mystery, an inquest heard this week.

Graham Johnson, 58, had a 'passion for renewable energy' and had been working for a heating and power company around Europe.

A Truro inquest heard the married father was found dead in November 2022 in Sens, France.

A post mortem in France could not determine his cause of death but a small amount of alcohol and cannabis was in his system.

A French police investigation said there were no signs of a struggle, physical injuries or third party involvement.

Relatives told the coroner that there is a history of sudden deaths in their family and remain baffled by the cause of his death and disappointed by the lack of information from the autopsy.

The assistant coroner for Cornwall Emma Hillson recorded an open conclusion on Mr Johnson who lived at Newbridge near Callington.

She said the cause of death was unascertained and said the drugs and alcohol found in his system were not responsible for causing his death.
