Customers at three Poundstretcher stores in Cornwall have the chance to win a £10 shopping voucher every hour over the next three days as part of a celebration to mark new ownership.
The Poundstretcher brand has new owners and is holding a ‘Mega Weekend Event’ today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday to promote the changes in store.
These include cutting prices on many lines and introducing more branded products.
Customers shopping in the Helston, Truro and Camborne branches between August 2 and 4 have the chance every hour to win £10 voucher with the mass giveaway. The winner will be randomly selected using the in-store radio system.
Ben Richardson, store manager in Helston, said: “The pace of change at Poundstretcher under new management has been terrific. My team and I are passionate about our business and it’s great that customers have been noticing the lower prices and new brands in our store.
“We’re excited to be celebrating this new chapter with a three-day chance to win shopping voucher event and look forward to welcoming more customers into our store.”
Who are the new owners and what changes have they made?
- The new owners are ‘Fortress Investment Group,’ who acquired Poundstretcher in April 2024. Fortress also own Majestic Wine, Vagabond Wines, and Punch Pubs Group in the UK.
- At the suggestion of customers and colleagues, prices have been lowered over a number of ranges.
What differences will customers see?
- The company said that since April there have been more than 800 permanent price cuts on many product categories across the store, including household and cleaning, DIY, health and beauty, storage and reading glasses.
- There are now many lines at 99p to help customer budgets go further
- There are more than 500 big named brands introduced in every store, including Coca Cola, Walkers Crisps, Cadbury, Radox, Listerine, Surf, Pedigree and Felix.
- ‘Super Deals’ have been introduced on big brands every month such as a 21-pack of Kit Kats.
- There is now a monthly leaflet to tell customers about price cuts and deals.
Andy Atkinson, Poundstretcher’s new CEO, said: “Under new ownership and new leadership Poundstretcher is changing fast.
“Whilst we’re just getting started, the feedback from customers on our price cuts and new brands has been great.
“The continued cost of living crisis has been difficult for households up and down the country, so I’m pleased we’re helping our customers to save money, and I’m happy to see more and more of them shopping with us every week.
“To mark the start of this new journey, we’re giving away tens of thousands of pounds worth of vouchers across the country over one weekend.”
